Dakota Discovery Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the 2018 Youth Art Show. We are also very pleased to say that participation in the 2018 show has increased over last year’s show. The 2018 Youth Art Show will run through April 7 and will close with a free, public reception and awards ceremony. The reception will run from 2 – 4 p.m. on April 7, 2018.

This year’s show features the art of 168 student artists from across the state. K-12 students, ranging from Mobridge to Sioux Falls and Wakonda to Wessington Springs, have submitted 232 pieces of art for this year’s show. Mediums of art include sculpture, acrylic, ink, charcoal, and mixed media. The annual Youth Art Show takes place concurrent with the National Youth Art Month each March. Sargent Art, a national art supply company, is the show sponsor.

The public is encouraged to come and enjoy the work of these outstanding young artists.

The vision of Dakota Discovery Museum is to become the preeminent regional institution that tells the story of the people of the Dakotas. The museum is currently operating on its winter schedule, which is 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Dakota Discovery is closed when the Dakota Wesleyan campus is closed. Normal admission during winter hours is $5 per adult or senior and $3 for youth ages 7 – 17. Young artists who have submitted work to the show receive free admission for the duration of the show.
